A builder’s view of the business.

My career has put me close to the work: originating loans, leading operations, working with capital markets, and building software. Those experiences shape the questions I ask of technology.

As a founding employee of South River Mortgage, I’ve helped build both the company and the systems behind it. My work has included proprietary pricing and qualification tools, a custom CRM, machine learning applications, and lending product development.

I’m interested in the point where an idea becomes useful: a clearer decision, a better workflow, or a system that makes a complicated process easier to navigate.

How I approach the work.

I start with an operational problem, build something concrete, and learn from the people using it. The feedback matters as much as the first implementation.

A mortgage system has to make sense to the business and to the team working inside it. That means connecting technical choices to the actual lending process, rather than treating software as a separate layer.

Economics, language, and systems.

I earned bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Spanish Language and Literature at the University of Maryland, College Park, graduating cum laude and joining Phi Beta Kappa.

That combination continues to inform my work. Economics provides a way to think about incentives and markets. Language asks for precision, context, and an understanding of the person on the other side.
